I mentioned in last week’s post that I’m always trying to recreate the punchy, stripy vibe of Frequency (which was published as a quilt pattern called Sound Maze). Here’s another attempt!

I just love the simplicity of strip/stripes and the back and forth movement of vertical and horizontal lines. This design uses a single block on repeat, rotated to create a bit of space between adjacent blocks. So simple!

I couldn’t decide if I preferred the darker background (Kona Roasted Pecan in Electric Quilt 8) or the lighter one (Kona Lingerie). So here’s the other version.

I love the impact of two-colour designs, but I know they’re not for everyone. Sometimes you just want to use more fabrics! The insides of those long rectangles are the perfect spot for another colour.

And because it’s a block-based design, it works in a larger palette too. Here’s a five-colour version (six when you include the background):

That last version’s a bit random; I didn’t plan very well when placing the internal colours. I think it could look better with a more balanced arrangement, but hopefully you get the general idea!

I think this design would be great for combining prints and solids, too. It’s one I think I’ll try making eventually. It’s all straight lines, just lots of repetitive piecing and straightforward assembly. My happy place 🙂
