Sunday sketch #125
This design started out in different colours, but it felt a bit busy, so I replaced one of the colours with white. Adding some negative space really opens up the design and makes it all a bit calmer.

I really love this colour palette, although sometimes I think that rich yellow would work with anything!
It’s all squares and rectangles, so a quilt based on this design would come together really quickly.
Sunday sketch #121
This week’s designs aren’t really new; they’re exactly the same as Sunday sketch #120, just coloured in differently. I’ve opted for a red and white colour scheme, because who doesn’t love a red and white quilt?!
Here’s Sunday sketch #120 recoloured:

I love how changing the colours can completely change the feel of the design!
Then I extended the same colour scheme to the edges of the design:

And reversed the colour scheme:

Maybe it’s those curved corners, but I love this one! So then I tried it without the curved diamonds in the middle:

Hmm, maybe a bit too red? I tried filling in the squares with white, to balance things out a bit:

It’s amazing how just a few minor changes can make such a big difference overall.
I think I like the first one and the middle one most. Which one’s your favourite??
Sunday sketch #120
In the description for Sunday sketch #119, I mentioned that I was going to post a series of related designs. Here’s the next one!
I replaced the arrow heads with a straight line (bisected in the middle, where the colours meet) and surrounded the coloured lines with a white border. Putting everything against a grey background sets the colours off nicely.

I often fall in love with new designs, but I really love this one!
This design could be made into a quilt pattern using the same shapes as last week, without the triangles (HSTs, QSTs or flying geese).
