Sunday sketch #410

I’ve been using circles a lot lately, and after a while I just wanted to see what they’d look like on their own. Kinda fun!

With only two colours, the possibilities are (almost) endless.

I just rotated and flipped the whole design to get slightly different versions, but you could also change the colouring of the dots themselves. And/or use a larger range of colours.

These sketches use a standard layout of a single block on repeat. The block features a half-circle on all 4 sides, so full circles are created by two adjacent blocks. Obviously there are easier ways of making this design into an actual quilt! If you didn’t like piecing full circles, you could use half-circles or quarter-circles. Or even appliqué.

I’m sure there are other dotty designs out there, but as usual, I’m sharing this because I like to show how I work my way through related designs. Maybe it’ll spark some more ideas – for me or for you!
