Sunday sketch #392
It’s the last Sunday sketch of 2023! Thank you so much for following along with my design adventures this year. I hope the new year brings you lots of happiness, health and quilty inspiration!
I’m still on a curvy kick this week, but these designs aren’t related to the last few Sunday sketches. They’re also a bit simpler. A bit of a calm and restful end to the year!

I had a hard time deciding which version I preferred, so here’s the opposite colourway.

This design is made up of two rows of long narrow blocks on repeat. Flipping the blocks around moves those negative-space curvy stars around.

And rotating every second block moves them around again.

I also tried the designs in blue and pink and loved those as well, so had to include them!

I’m not sure how I’d make this sketch into an actual quilt. The easiest way (for me) might be to top and tail long rectangles with quarter-circles (or drunkard’s path units), then add the sashing in between. If you wanted to minimise the number of seams though, you could cut curved ends onto the rectangular pieces, and then add the curved sashing (or a curved piece, and then long sashing strips). Could I do this and keep all the long seams straight? Probably not!
I really like the simplicity of this design. You could probably expand the colour palette and/or use prints, but I think I prefer the two-colour versions shown here. The only problem – as always – is choosing the two colours!

I love the green and pink, rotating every second block. Mum
